Our Mission

The Blue Project seeks to protect our Earth’s oceans. By showcasing many dynamic marine based charaities and organizations, we hope to raise awareness & inspire people to get involved.

We are focused on building a future that doesn’t flood with doubt and desolation & that call to action begins with a simple movement.

The ocean covers over 70% of the globe, and as avid surfer’s and passionate coastal residents we want to be the change we so long for. It is in our power to restore our ocean’s and their beautiful ecosystems that sustain our planet.

By creating a campaign that works with a multitude of organizations we hope to push the limitations and expand our possibilities for success. We hope that through our efforts people will realize that we have the ability to make the changes necessary to rebuild our natural environment and restore the balance.

WHAT WE DO:

Why do we care? First of all…. Who are we?

This initiative that we have coined as “The Blue Project,” was born out of two surfer’s vision to clean up the ocean they so love and cherish. Those two surfers are director & photographer, Steven Lippman and publisher of Malibu Magazine, Jason Rouse. Both men of the sea in their hearts, came up with the idea to create a way to raise awareness that showcases all the problems currently facing our global bodies of water.

Being the avid surfers they are, both have participated in many oceanic charity organizations such as, SurfAID International & Surfer’s Healing prior to the creation of The Blue Project. However, they believed  that these types of organizations simply weren’t getting the audience they deserved, thus The Blue Project was born.

Originally, this project was a still campaign for Malibu Magazine, yet as I sit here and transcribe the history of our evolution, I marvel at what we have created. This project is far greater then the reach of a beautiful editorial piece. The editorial gave us the footing we would need to reach a vast audience, and through the eyes of the brilliant director, Steven Lippman a unique viral spot was created. (A spot, is the industry term for commercial). This spot brought together dynamic personalities in a narrative & poetic piece that shines light onto the horrific disasters that face our earth’s oceans. These issues span from the slaughter of over 25,000 whales and dolphins every year for commercial profit, to the abundance of pollution and artificial plastics that flood the 5 major oceanic gyres.

Our goals are simple.

Put a stop to these horrific acts that we as humans commit. We realize that these issues cannot be halted overnight, especially when it comes to changing the way we as a global population operate. However, we believe that it is our moral duty to take a stand. To stop the bloodbath, to clean up the water, to prevent the further degradation of one of the few remaining natural resources for future generations.

Our campaign is about getting involved. No more talk.

We bring together oceanic organizations, talk about the issues, create a community of education & inspiration. We will be keeping regular updates of the organizations we work in accordance with, and we are building a social network of acitve supporters. So join us.

Get involved.
