Mavin Yasuda, avid surfer, Malibu local and father of a 3 year old son contacted The Blue Project after becoming inspired by the work of our director, artist & lifelong ocean advocate, Steven Lippman.
Raised in Tokyo, Japan Marvin grew up with a vastly contrasting cultural knowledge of the ocean & the creatures that compose it’s interwoven and intricate ecosystem. He shares The Blue Project’s montra of working to protect our world’s oceans at all costs.
Marvin immigrated to California in 1989 at the age of 21, where he spent over three years as an illegal alien. After a long trial of tribulations, Marvin won the lottery for a Green card & met his current employer, Masato Watanabe. After this fateful connection with Masato, he was never the same. Residing in Malibu for the past 12 years, Marvin developed a deep emotional connection with the Ocean and through his work with The Blue Project, he has mobilized his efforts in a very dynamic way. By spreading a global message of education with regards to respectful ocean practices, Marvin is able to act as a vehicle of change for our global resources.
